BRIEF HISTORY

Happy Days Radio was founded by Lawrence McCraw who has been involved with radio for over fifty years starting with his first pirate radio station at Homai College the school for the then New Zealand Foundation For The Blind in Manurewa Auckland. Later Lawrence in the 1970s operated a pirate station near Clinton known as Radio Sunshine. in 1976 This was closed down by the New Zealand Post Office who prosecuted Lawrence but was aquitted. This received much media coverage. Later Lawrence worked in commercial radio at 4XO in Dunedin for six years and he went on to found Classic Gold Radio in Ranfurly in 1990, Puketapu Radio at Palmerston in 1999 and now Happy Days Radio which went to air on 3 July 2017.
